Doza, Oscar

Oscar Vivian Doza Jr., 84, of Festus died Sept. 20, 2025, at Crystal Oaks in Festus. Mr. Doza worked as a mechanic and later in maintenance at Soundelier and Nordyne factories. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City, the NRA and the Zell-Weingarten Deer Club. He enjoyed spending time at his property and cabin in northern Missouri, where he hunted deer and turkey and fished. He also enjoyed building deer stands and turkey blinds, each one unique, earning him the German nickname “The Meister.” Born Feb. 6, 1941, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Smith) and Oscar V. Doza Sr.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years: Leanne (Herman) Doza.

He is survived by a son: Chad M. Doza of Kansas City; four brothers-in-law: Wayne Herman of Hillsboro, Leon (Eileen) Herman of Zell, Ronald (Angi) Herman of Perryville and Gene (Cheyle) Herman of Festus; two sisters-in-law: Barb (the late Robert) Herman and Gwen (the late Richard) Herman of Ste. Genevieve; and many other family members and friends.

He also was preceded in death by two sisters: Carol (the late Lloyd) Bates and Janice (the late Marty) Gephardt.

Visitation is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Basler Funeral Home, 685 Center Drive, in Ste. Genevieve. Services will take place at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 11824 Zell Road, in Ste. Genevieve. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow a graveside service at Jaycees Hall in Zell. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent De Paul in Crystal City or Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Basler Funeral Home.
