Opal Elaine Tarrants, 85, of Hillsboro died July 30, 2026, at The Quarters of Des Perez. Born April 9, 1941, in Sikeston, she was the daughter of the late James A. and Anna M. (Counsil) Noyes.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Johnny E. Tarrants.
She is survived by two children: Sherry Tarrants of Hillsboro and Lori (Brian) Mayer of Hillsboro; a sister: Frances Taylor of Sikeston; four grandchildren: Brandi (David) Snodgrass, Courtney (Sam) Weber, Meagan (Josh) Polite and Kristen (Larz Shields) Mercer; and 15 great-grandchildren: Emmett, Caleb, Audrey, Luke, Sam, Elliana, Noah, Emma, Chase, Isabella, Kaylyn, Charlotte, Brooklyn, Kynsley and Bryley.
She was also preceded in death by four siblings: Nadine Jursic, Mozelle Sears, Reva Curtner and Golda Holman.
Services were held Aug. 4 at Rose of Sharon Church in De Soto. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home in De Soto.
