Norma Jean Cross, 82, of Festus died Oct. 20, 2023, at Festus Manor Care Center. Mrs. Cross was a fan of Mickey Mouse and a lover of the Gospel. She enjoyed dancing and playing the organ and accordion. Born March 17, 1941, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Simpson) Binko and Thomas Lanhan.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Leslie Cross.
She is survived by three children: Robert (Wanda) Borden of Auburndale, Fla., Richard (Becky) Borden of Bloomington, Ind. and Jeana Malkowski of St. Louis; three siblings: Rudy (Karen) Binko of St. Louis, Mary “Eileen” Goellner of Tampa, Fla. and Howard Mitchell of North Carolina; eight grandchildren: Kim (Robert) Muellersman, Danielle (Jarrett) McCabe, Floyd (Michelle) Borden, Kathleen Malkowski, Ryan (Melissa) Borden, Randy (Malinda) Borden, Jonathan (Tanya) Signaigo and Lesley (Michael) Lunt; 19 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by a son: Ronald Borden Jr.; a daughter: Martha (John survives of Florida) LaFemina; a sister: Martha (the late Floyd) Hennen; and two grandchildren: Angel Malkowski and Robert Borden Jr.
A graveside service is planned for Friday, Dec. 1, in Florida. Burial will be in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth Beach. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
