Michael J. “Mike” Vaughn, 85, of Crystal City died July 26, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Vaughn was a retired autoworker for Chrysler Automotive Plant in Fenton and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1721 and the Knights of Columbus 1230. He loved to fish, garden, work in his yard, watch cowboy movies and spend time with his family. Born July 13, 1940, in Crystal City, he was the son of the late Roberta Evelyn “Berdie” (Auzat) Vaughn-Langelier and Edward Arthur Vaughn.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years: Vicki (Cragg) Vaughn; a son: Michael P. (Stephanie) Vaughn of Hillsboro; a stepdaughter: Jennifer (Peter) Manso of Festus; a stepson: Curtis (Amy) Brooks of Festus; a brother: John (Delores) Vaughn of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister: Susan (the late Donald) Lalumondier of Highland, Ill.; six grandchildren: Nathan Vaughn, Kayla Underwood, Abby Brooks, Lexi Brooks, Jaelyn Brooks and Malachi Manso; a mother-in-law: Billie (the late Clifford) Cragg; and numerous other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife: Kathleen (Cole) Vaughn; three sisters: Ellen (Leroy survives) Horstmann, Mary (Leroy) Bradley and Ruth Ann Eicher; and a brother: Thomas (Marcella) Vaughn.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Missouri Chapter, 11433 Olde Cabin Road, St. Louis, 63141. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
