Mary Ruth (Robinson) Guffey, 86, of Mehlville died Dec. 24, 2023. After earning her bachelor’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University and her master’s degree from the University of Missouri, Mrs. Guffey became a high school business teacher. She taught two years at Gorham Ill. High School, one year at Poplar Bluff High School and the next 27 years at Fox High School in Arnold. She was known for making the most out of everything and never complaining. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Born in Poplar Bluff, she was the daughter of the late Pat and Marie Robinson.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years: George Guffey; a daughter: Jennifer Roberts; a grandchild: Charles Roberts; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son: John Guffey.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, at First Baptist Church of Arnold, 2012 Missouri State Road. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home South County Chapel.
