Engelbach, Martin

Martin Clarence Engelbach, 75, of Anaconda, Mont., formerly of Arnold, died Feb. 16, 2025. Following his graduation from Fox High School, Mr. Engelbach enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. He served in the Brown Water Navy as a shipfitter 3rd class aboard USS YRBM-20 and later on the USS Amphion. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Navy Unit Commendation. After his service, he moved to Anaconda, Mont., and worked as a large equipment mechanic. Born in January of 1950, he was the son of the late Violet (Schaefer) Engelbach and George Martin Clarence.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Joy (Olson) Engelbach.

He is survived by his significant other: Audrey Mattson; two children: Matthew Martin Engelbach and Katrinna Rosemary Engelbach; two stepchildren: Michael (Jennifer) Roth and Dena Reid; three siblings: George “Bob” (Janet) Engelbach Sr., Marjorie Ehlers and Ronald Engelbach; four grandchildren: Avery, Aspen, Chevelle and Kyros; and many other family members and friends.

He also was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Dale Ehlers; and a nephew: George Engelbach Jr.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 820 Lockett Road, in Kirkwood. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Montana. Memorials may be made to NPR, PBS or the Arbor Day Foundation.
