Marlene (King) Whiteman, 93, of Hillsboro died April 10, 2024. Mrs. Whiteman worked at the historic Thomas C. Fletcher House Association in Hillsboro for many years and was a member of the Church of Christ of Hillsboro for 15 years, many gardening clubs, the North American Bluebird Society, was a den mother with the Cub Scouts of America and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed being outside and was a master gardener, a certified scuba diver and a pilot. Born March 16, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Grace (Nugent) and Albert King.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Dean Whiteman Sr.
She is survived by two children: Wendi (Lloyd) Burns and Dean (Cindy) Whiteman; a sibling: Kathy Brooks; two grandchildren: Chad (Lerin) Burns and Robert Dalton (fiancee Megan Lacy) Whiteman; a great-grandchild: Sammie Burns; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sibling: Mack King.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Fieser Funeral Home in Fenton.
