Marilyn Sue Hunt, 86, Arnold

Marilyn Sue Hunt, 86, of Arnold died April 2, 2024, in Arnold. Mrs. Hunt lived in Chaffee in her early childhood and then the National VFW Children’s Home in Eaton Rapids, Mich. She later moved to St. Louis where she met her husband. She was a member of Arnold Church of Christ since 1962, and she was the church’s secretary for 29 years. She also taught Bible classes at the church. With her husband, she worked with the youth and participated in several missionary campaigns and supported the Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis. Her favorite pastime was camping, and she enjoyed organizing the Older Adults “Kamping” Social at the church. She also enjoyed camping with her family, especially during “Grandkids Week.” Born Sept. 27, 1937, in Cape Girardeau, she was the daughter of the late Edna Irene (Robbins) and James Paul Jones.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years: Carlton L. Hunt; two daughters: Tonia (Greg) Howell and Carla (Leonard) Payne; four grandchildren: Jana (Nathan) Green, Eric (Ashley) Howell, Kayla Payne and Jared (Morgan) Payne; a niece who was like a daughter: Kathy Wisor; Kathy’s son: Brenden; four great-grandchildren: Emily and Lydia Green, Jonathan and Anderson Howell; a great-grandchild on-the-way; two brothers: Jim (Barbara) Jones and Bill (Maria) Jones; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by eight siblings: Wanda Ryan, Carl, Earl and Bobby Jones, Norma Evans, Glenda Good, Ann Isbell and Doris Ward.

Visitation will be from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Arnold Church of Christ, 2267 Scott Drive. Burial will follow in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to Christian Academy of Great St. Louis, 11050 N. Warson Road, St. Louis, 63114. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
