Margaret Phipps, 80, of Festus died July 1, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Phipps was a member of Radiant Life Church of Festus and Sun City Christian Center in Wimauma, Fla. She started a ministry in her local church that provides support for widowed women. She also volunteered with the children's ministry. She enjoyed shopping, traveling and walking on the beach. Born Oct. 7, 1943, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Norma (Hertz) Menendez.
Margaret is survived by husband of 60 years: Donald E. Phipps of Festus whom she married on Aug. 8, 1964; three daughters: Deborah (Michael Sr.) Maes of Festus, Lisa (Lee) Gowans of Mt. Dora, Fla., and Laura (Eric) Nienhaus of St. Louis; two grandchildren: Michael Maes Jr. and Alexis Steen; and siblings-in-law: Pete Hutnyk, Bobby and Betty Menendez, Linda 'Teke' Menendez, Linda Menendez, Rosie and Al Ledbetter, Judy and Lee Hendricks, Beverly and Sam Hall, Louis and Marjean Menendez, Richard Menendez, Terry Menendez and Josephine and Michael Zema.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: James Menendez, Norma Dalton, Lilly Hutnyk, John Menendez and Art Menendez.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
