McMullin, Margaret G. ‘Peggy’

Margaret G. “Peggy” McMullin, 97, of De Soto died Oct. 7, 2026, at Crystal Oaks in Crystal City. Mrs. McMullin and her husband owned and operated McMullin Masonry until their retirement. She was a member of Hillsboro United Methodist Church. Born May 17, 1929, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late Amanda Grace (Evans) and Theodore Hurtgen Sr.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles H. “Mac” McMullin.

She is survived by three children: Mary (Mark) Lacey of Hillsboro, Mark (Susie) McMullin of Bonne Terre and Charles F. “Rick” McMullin of Crystal City; eight grandchildren: Joey (Jenny) Lacey, Mike Lacey, Amanda (James) Leggett, David (Kyla) Lacey, Jacob (Alyssa) McMullin, Heather (Dustin) Miller, Nichole (Kerry) Cook and Chrissy McMullin; 14 great-grandchildren: Amiaya (Tyreece Shores) Cheek, Trevor Lacey, Henry Lacey, Everett Lacey, MacInnis “Mac” Lacey, Waylon McMullin, Jackson McMullin, Bear Miller, Griffin Miller, Evelyn Miller, Amelia Miller, Mason Cook, Molly Reiter and Josie Reiter; and a great-great-grandchild: Zion Lacey.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Sue McMullin; two sisters: Katherine (Jerry) Jerrett and Rose (Robert) Tolson; and three brothers: Theodore (Mae Marie) Hurtgen Jr., Robert (Shirley) Hurtgen and Howard Hurtgen.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Visitation will resume from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Hillsboro United Methodist Church, 4810 Hwy. B, in Hillsboro. Interment will be in Hillsboro Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, 63108, or the American Diabetes Association, 9440 Manchester Road, St. Louis, 63119. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
