
Leanna Pauline Flatbush, 83, formerly of De Soto, died July 9, 2025, at Center Point Medical Center in Independence. Ms. Flatbush worked at Walmart after retiring from AAA. Born Oct. 2, 1941, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Mary Viola (Gruwell) and William E. “Eddie” Flatbush Sr.
She is survived by four children: James William Davis III of Cedar Hill, John Michael (Joyce) Davis of Camdenton, Beth Anne Davis of Garland, Texas, and Eric Wayne Tharp of Salem; four siblings: J. Richard (Sharon) Flatbush, David E. (Becky) Flatbush, James “Dan” (Carol) Flatbush and Mary “Kathy” (Eddie) Johnston; nine grandchildren: Melissa (Adam) Neff, Dawne Davis, Amanda Nikel, Jaquealyn Davis, Christine (Patrick) Simmons, David Poole, Faith Radhakrishnan, Grace Radhakrishnan and Lynz Tharp; 14 great-grandchildren: Gabriel (Cameron Allen) Brunck, Alexander Neff, Addison Neff, Destiny (Eli Davis) Hedrick, Hope (Cody Collier) Hedrick, Seth Hedrick, Serenity (Devon Craig) Hedrick, Tanner Hedrick, Devin Nikel, Gavin Nikel, Chelsee Lynn Nikel, John Lenou, Emma Lenou and Lucas McBee; and three great-great-grandchildren: Mia Allen, Kayden Davis and Aiden Davis.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Joyce F. Sanders; three brothers: Norman Ray Flatbush, Walter F. Flatbush and William E. Flatbush Jr.; a great-grandchild: Alyssa Hedrick; and a great-great-granddaughter: Raelynn Davis.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from noon until a celebration of life at 2 p. m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
