Whitworth, Lawrence

Lawrence Estus Whitworth, 82, of Fenton died April 28, 2025, in Sappington. Mr. Whitworth was a member of the Knights of Columbus and lived by the principles of charity, unity and fraternity. Active throughout the community, he dedicated many hours volunteering with the Peace Pantry and was known for lending a helping hand to neighbors and family in need. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and being a “Paw Paw.” He enjoyed attending the events and games of his grandchildren and often shared with them a smile and words of encouragement. He will be remembered for his kindness, service and support. Born Oct. 9, 1942, in Washington, he was the son of the late Rachel (Brady) and Estus Whitworth.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Susan (Lutes) Whitworth; a daughter: Beth (Greg) Roussin; three grandchildren: Tori (Clay) Wittig, Rachel (Zach) Boschert and Zachary (Paige Vancil) Roussin; three siblings: Sue Ann (Gene) Kohlman, Lynn (Jim) Lagermann and Michelle (Dan) McAlevey; two brothers-in-law: Donald (Denise) Lutes and David (Bethany) Lutes; a sister-in-law: Pamela Lutes; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a grandson: Nicholas Roussin; two sisters-in-law: Katherine Smith and Patricia Lutes; a brother-in-law: Pat Smith; and a special nephew: Richard Smith.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Monday, May 5, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 4696 Notre Dame Lane, in House Springs. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association or the Cedar Hill Peace Pantry. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
