Lauren “Brooke” Johnston, 41, of Festus died July 30, 2025, in Jefferson County. Ms. Johnston loved spending time with family and friends. She was an avid outdoorswoman who loved hunting and fishing. She attended Good News Community Church. She was known for living life to the fullest. Born Jan. 23, 1984, in Chesterfield, she was the daughter of Barry (Cheri) Garber of Bloomsdale and the late Tracey Elaine (Randolph) Garber.
In addition to her father, she is survived by two sons: Hank and Gentry Johnston of Festus; five siblings: Shawna (Josh) Price of Festus, Carissa (Ben) Abrams of Festus, Amber (Kyle) Moses of Festus, Zach Clayton of Festus and Adam Clayton of Festus; grandparents: Corene (the late Richard) Randolph of Festus and Dale and Carolyn Goodwin of Paragould, Ark.; and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by grandparents: Eugenia and George Garber.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St. in Festus. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Justin Metiva of Good News Community Church. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Johnston children’s education fund at Enterprise Bank and Trust under Barry Garber. Donations must be made in person. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
