Larry Joseph “Buddy” DeRousse, 63, of De Soto died May 5, 2024, at his home. Mr. DeRousse was a carpenter and musician. He loved his music and had written several songs that made him famous in his hometown. He grew up mostly on the banks of the Mississippi River. He enjoyed camping, fishing, making and performing his music and spending time with family and friends. Born Nov. 23, 1960, in Crystal City, he was the son of Geneva Joanne (Gardner) DeRousse of Festus and the late Frank DeRousse Sr.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two children: Amber (Josh) DeRousse of Festus and Booker DeRousse of Bloomsdale; four siblings: Frankie (Pat) DeRousse of Festus, Tonya DeRousse of Festus, Garr DeRousse of Festus and Eric (Holly) DeRousse of De Soto; three grandchildren: MaCeighla Nichols-DeRousse, Cierra Nichols-DeRousse and Ashton Nichols-DeRousse; and many other family members and friends.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Glass Workers Country Club, Glass Workers Country Club Drive, in Festus. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
