Kimberly Ruth (Ward) Kelsch, 66, of Festus, formerly of Florissant, died Aug. 22, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Kelsch was known to live her life with open arms and an open heart, never knowing a stranger and welcoming others as family. Also known for her strength, kindness and generous spirit, she impacted others with her compassion and warmth. She had a sweet tooth for chocolate and often reminded her loved ones, "When you see Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, make sure you think of me." She will be remembered for her strength, big heart and smile. Born Sept. 21, 1958, in Wellston, Ohio, she was the daughter of Naomi Coral (Benson) Ward of Florissant and the late Robert J. Ward.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 47 years: Michael Gerard Kelsch of Festus, whom she married on June 24, 1978, in Florissant; five children: Michael (fiancee Danni) Kelsch of Festus, Robert (fiancee Lindsey) Kelsch of Union, David (Nicole) Kelsch of Gillespie, Ill., Jaime (Christopher) Kintz of House Springs and Anna (Mathew) Roesch of Hillsboro; two brothers: David Benson of Ohio and Kevin (Elizabeth) Ward of Weldon Springs; two sisters: Penny Ward of Florissant and Polly Hilmes of Florissant; 21 grandchildren; her great-grandchild and one more on the way; and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Cameron Ward; and a sister: Tamara Ward.
Per Mrs. Kelsch’s wishes, she will be cremated, and no funeral service will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
