Kenneth Alfred Rockwell Sr., 83, of Weslaco, Texas, formerly of St. Louis, died Oct. 21, 2024, at John Knox Village Medical Center in Weslaco. Mr. Rockwell owned and managed numerous restaurants in the St. Louis area from the 60s to the 90s. In addition to his culinary talents, he was a gifted singer and musician, having played many instruments, including the guitar, banjo, accordion, harmonica and keyboard. He was known in the community through his singing in church, teaching music to children and his years as a Boy Scout leader. He will be remembered for his warm and joyful personality. Born May 19, 1941, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Isabelle K. (Farr) Rockwell and Clinton A. Rockwell.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years: Donna M. Rockwell of Weslaco, Texas, formerly of St. Louis; three children: Kenneth (Angela Joy) Rockwell Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa., Karen (Rory Schroeder) Rockwell-Fischer of Barnhart and Diane Rockwell of St. Louis; five grandchildren: Emma Reilly and Anna Fischer, both of Barnhart, Gary Kentch of St. Louis, Matthew Joy Rockwell and Jason Joy, both of Philadelphia, Pa; and his first wife and mother of his children: Carol A. Rockwell of St. Louis.
He was preceded in death by his stepson: Christopher N. Bilbro; and two brothers: James E. Rockwell and Eugene R. Rockwell.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Weslaco, Texas. Memorials may be made to the animal shelter of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of McCaleb Funeral Home in Weslaco, Texas.
