
Keith Joseph Hart, 59, of Hillsboro died July 4, 2025, at his home. Mr. Hart was dedicated to serving his community. He volunteered for several years as a firefighter with the Hillsboro Fire Protection District and also served as an auxiliary police officer with the Hillsboro Police Department. He was known for his generous heart and willingness to help others. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and especially admired deer-collecting, with countless photos and keepsakes celebrating their unique antlers. He also enjoyed camping trips with family and backyard barbecues. He would often prepare full meals for gatherings. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends and was affectionately described by a great-niece as a "gentle giant.” Born July 17, 1965, in St. Louis, he was the son of Nova C. Hart Jr. and Virginia (Boyer) Hart of Hillsboro.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers: Paul (Cathy) Hart of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Carl (Melissa) Hart of Cedar Hill; his adopted brother: Jason (Ginny) Hart of Owosso, Mich.; three sisters: Annette (Brian) Griffith Sr. of Sullivan, Cinda (Ron) Lewis of Caruthersville and Malinda (Mark) Roberson of De Soto; his girlfriend: Gina Chase of Hillsboro; as well as many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Nova and Marvaline Hart Sr. and Frank and Cynthia (Boyer) Weaver.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Mahn Funeral Home De Soto Chapel, 900 N Main St., in De Soto, officiated by Pastor Ryan Sutton. Burial will be in Peaceful Ridge Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Wildlife Foundation or Special Olympics. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
