Kathy Dorsey Hawkins, 71, of Blackwell died Jan. 12, 2024, at her home. Ms. Hawkins worked as a CMT. She enjoyed working on her and Jim’s Blackwell farm gardening, canning, raising horses, Labrador Retrievers and chickens. She had also owned and operated Kathy’s Lily Pad in De Soto and Hillsboro. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Born June 5, 1952, in Waynesboro, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Mary Ann (O’Brian) and Fred Dorsey.
She is survived by her longtime companion: James “Jim” Condray of Blackwell; six children: Aliceson Spence of Flora, Ind., Thomas Blackwood of Irmo, S.C., Derek Hayes of O’Fallon, Ariel Condray of Montgomery City, Renee Bosworth of Granite City, Ill. and Hanna Condray of De Soto; nine grandchildren: Courtney, Cooper, Liam, Caleb, Raven, Abram, Noah, Fox and Forrest; two sisters: Penny Dressel of Aiken, S.C. and Carol Williams of San Jose, Calif.; two brothers: Richard Dorsey of Oklahoma and Tommy Dorsey of Aiken, S.C.
She was preceded in death by Jim’s son: Noah Condray; two grandchildren: Riley and Gabriel; two sisters: Ida Fore and Jaine Kate; and three brothers: Sid, Roy and Fred Dorsey
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until services at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Dietrich-Mothershead Chapel, 220 N. Main, in De Soto, officiated by John Dover. A graveside service is scheduled for noon Friday, Jan. 19, at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellsinore. Memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, 63108. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
