Kmetz, Kathryn

Kathryn Ann Kmetz, 85, of Festus died Sept. 28, 2025, at her home. Mrs. Kmetz worked as a computer specialist for the Defense Mapping Agency. She was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church. She was a volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul, an avid reader and a champion of public libraries. Born Jan. 3, 1940, in Minneapolis, Minn., she was the daughter of the late Nellie (Searle) and Eugene Miller.

She is survived by her husband: Marvin Kmetz; four children: David (Cathy) Kmetz of Festus, Denise (Joe) Cook of Festus, Daniel (Michelle) Kmetz of Bloomsdale and Bonnie (Curtis) Brown of Marion, Ill.; nine grandchildren: Jennifer (Ken) French, Joseph Cook, Jeffrey Kmetz, Eric (Hollie) Cook, Ashley Cook, Felicia Kmetz, Kelsey Cook, Seth (Grace) Kmetz and Shaina Kmetz; 12 great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Kevin Miller of Alaska, Thomas (Sharon) Miller of California, Patrick (Patricia) Miller of Alaska and Walter (Cathy) Miller of Alaska.

She was preceded in death by five siblings: Franklin (Janne) Miller, Steven Miller, Dennis Miller, Kelly Miller and Mary Miller.

A memorial gathering is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until a Mass at 11:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane, in Festus, officiated by Father Stephen Lian. Interment will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
