Joyce C. “Cathy” Gaydos, 87, of Festus died April 10, 2024. Mrs. Gaydos owned a beauty shop and was retired from the Department of the Navy in Washington, DC. She was a member of the Garden Club and was an auxiliary member of the Lake Gaston, FD. She was Catholic and had a love for animals, especially her cat, Sweetie. She enjoyed growing flowers, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Born July 12, 1936, in Gastonia, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Walter L. Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years: Eugene M. Gaydos.
She is survived by five children: Dwayne Cable of Robbinsville, N.C., Diane (Lonnie) Price of De Soto, Charles Cable of Clayton, Ga., Michael Gaydos of Las Vegas Nev., and Tammy (Frank) Kelly of Littleton, N.C.; a sibling: Janell Baker of Fayetteville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren: Brett, Cheri’, Austin Alaina, Chandra, Tiffaney, Sarah Katherine, Bo, Brandon, Daniel, Isaac, Brianna and Isaiah; 17 great-grandchildren: Lucas, Rowan, Sophia, Anthony, Kimber, Max, Chesney, Carleigh, Kamille, Pacey, Hanley, Harmon, Samual, Sophia, Skylar, Lyla and Amynah; and a daughter-in-law: Sarah Cable of Robbinsville, N.C.
She also was preceded in death by a child: Ronald L. Cable; four siblings: Walter Hughes Jr., NaDara Andrews, Buddy Hughes and Jimmy Hughes; and two daughters-in-law: Debbie Cable and Barbara Cable.
