Joseph William Rodgers, 75, of Festus died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, at de Greff Hospice House in South St. Louis County. Mr. Rodgers was a retired machine operator for Nooter Corporation in St. Louis and was a member of Elks Lodge 1721 in Festus, Mississippi River Eagles Club in Crystal City, the Festus Crystal City Conservation Club, Midwest Club Dance in Arnold, Plattin Rock Boat Club in Crystal City, the Boilermakers Local Lodge 27 and the First United Methodist Church of Festus-Crystal City. He will be remembered for his love of fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and many friends, hunting, line dancing, mowing grass, helping others and volunteering. Born Jan. 28, 1948, in Poplar Bluff, he was the son of the late Elaine (Neel) and Willie Rodgers.
He is survived by his wife: Peggy (Davis) Rodgers; a daughter: Ami (Darrell) Faerber of Festus; a son: Kelly (Carol) Rodgers of Festus; and five grandchildren: Drew Faerber, Allison Faerber, Lilly Rodgers, Joshua Thornborrow and Jeannie Thornborrow.
He was preceded in death by a brother: Ray Rodgers.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 9 a.m. until a memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday Nov. 27 at First United Methodist Church, 113 Grand Ave., in Festus Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Food Pantry. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
