Joseph Matthew “Matt” Young, 71, of De Soto died July 24, 2026. Born April 26, 1955, Mr. Young was the son of the late Alma Carson Young and Melvin Young.
He is survived by his wife: Dixie Mobley Young; a child: Dana Norton Brown; two grandchildren who knew him as “PawPaw”: Keara Brown and Lily Brown; five siblings: Ron Young, Sidney (Karin) Young, Melba Young Settlemoir, Marsha Young Boyer and Dennis Harding; and many friends and their families including the Allens, the Chapmans, the McKees, the Pelikans and the Wilsons.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Lisa Young.
A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at De Soto Amvets, 1075 Amvets Drive. Pulled pork will be provided; the family requests that attendees bring a covered dish.
