Joseph M. Pratte, 97, of Hickory, N.C., died Jan. 6, 2026. Mr. Pratte joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951 during the Korean War. Following his military service, he became active in the Festus and Crystal City communities, where he lived from 1965 to 1995. As the owner of Pratte’s Pharmacy in Festus for more than 20 years, he was considered more than a pharmacist, but also a trusted advisor and friend to many families. He was known for his personal touch and expert care. He was a member of the Catholic Church throughout his life. During his years in Missouri, he was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Festus. Upon moving to North Carolina in 1995, he became a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hickory. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially going on adventures with his wife. He will be remembered for his love, faith and the support he gave to others. Born Dec. 15, 1928, in Bonne Terre, he was the son of Sarah E. and Henry J. Pratte.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Emma Lou.
He is survived by his children: Kyle and Bill Herbein and Kris Pratte; two grandchildren: Kate Herbein (Brandon) Crater and Roberts (Sarah) Hebein; four great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
