John R. Manning Jr., 54, of De Soto died Aug. 25, 2024, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mr. Manning was a concrete laborer for Warrior Construction. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. Born April 24, 1970, in Crystal City, he was the son of Lillian I. (Smith) Manning of De Soto and the late John L. Manning Sr.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by six children: Cassie (Brandon) McNamee of Wentzville, Molly Stehr of St. Louis, Alexis Manning of De Soto, Ava Manning of De Soto, Zoey Manning of Hillsboro and Abbie Killian of De Soto; Abbie and Zoey’s mother: Crystal Killian; four grandchildren: Aspen McNamee, Annabelle McNamee, Kash Simonds and Eleanor Potter; five siblings: Deborah (John) Davis of De Soto, Penny Lee Meyer of Middleburg, Fla., Shelly (Paul) Reynolds of De Soto, Dawn Manning of De Soto and Shannon Manning of De Soto; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Bobbie Jo Heinz.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Larry Dean. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
