John F. Sydik, 71, of Ste. Genevieve died Feb. 20, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Sydik was a graduate of Crystal City High School and spent most of his life in the Festus and Crystal City area. He worked as a cement truck driver in the area and retired after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed boating at the Lake of the Ozarks, flying remote-controlled airplanes and spending time with his family and friends. Born July 7, 1953, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late John and Ann (McCain) Sydik.
He is survived by his longtime partner: Emily Layton of Ste. Genevieve; a sister: Linda (Ron) Bachmann of Nashville, Tenn.; a nephew: Dr. Justin (Dr. Katherine) Bachmann and their children Caroline and Gregory of Nashville, Tenn.; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Gilbert Ernest and Zora (Brown) McCain and John and Helena Sydik.
Per Mr. Sydik’s request, no services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory in Farmington.
