Joan M. (Scherer) Self, 81, of High Ridge died April 10, 2024, in Fenton. Ms. Self retired from Schnucks Supermarket in 2008. She volunteered at the community center, and she was also deeply committed to her church. She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family and friends. Born May 20, 1942, in Perryville, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy (Besand) and Louis Scherer.
She is survived by two children: Jonathan (Kimberly) Self and Julie (Ronald) Palmisano; three grandchildren: Hailey Palmisano, Samuel Palmisano and one on the way; a sister: Janice Schumer; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister: Judith (Patrick) Winschel; and a brother-in-law: Allen Schumer.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, at the mortuary. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
