Joan Elizabeth Terry, 95, of De Soto died Aug. 29, 2025, at Crystal Oaks Long-Term Care. Mrs. Terry was a meat cutter for Kroger in De Soto for 34 years before retiring at 55. She will be remembered as a brave, strong woman who was emboldened by the losses she endured. She loved to travel, bake everyone’s birthday cakes, play bingo and slot machines and could read a novel in two hours. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was born July 22, 1930.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert E. Terry.
She is survived by two children: Kathleen (Richie Sanders) Terry and David (Lisa Newkirk) Terry; and eight grandchildren: Travis Terry, Deana Roland, Cody Terry, Rachel Carter, Lauren Carter, Zachary Carter, Amy Terry and Caleb Terry.
She also was preceded in death by three sons: Dean (Judie) Terry, Robert (Debbie Moyer) Terry and Gary Terry; and a grandson: Robert Terry II.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mercy Jefferson Hospice for their care. Services will be private. Memorials may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
