Jimmy Dewayne Smith, 66, of Bacliff, Texas, formerly of De Soto, died April 9, 2025, in Galveston, Texas. Before retiring, Mr. Smith was the owner of a landscaping business. He was a member of Charter Baptist Church in Festus and served for many years as a trustee for Sunrise Lake. Born Jan. 31, 1959, in Strawberry, Ark., he was the son of the late Maycanzada (Peterson) Smith and Ray Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years: Patricia Anne Smith of Bacliff, Texas, formerly of De Soto; four children: Christina (Mike) Lami of De Soto, Davey (Frances) Hinkle of Jollete, Texas, Melissa (David) Grimes of De Soto and Jaimie (Mike) Walton of Bacliff, Texas; 18 grandchildren: Ashley (Maverick) Hinkle of De Soto, Kayla (Trevor) Sheets of Hot Springs, Ark., Daltton Roberts of Iowa, Ember Nox of Bonne Terre, Emily Stegemann of Missouri, Jason (Virginia) Hinkle of Springfield, Dylan Hinkle of Jollete, Texas, Hailey Hinkle of Joplin, Destinee (Chris) Midgett of Bonne Terre, Katherine (Karac) DiMercurio of St. Louis, Shyana (Robert) Walton of Santa Fe, Texas, Isabella Grimes of De Soto, Rebecca Stegemann of De Soto, Eric DiMercurio of Arnold, Keith Counts of Bacliff, Texas, Myia Hinkle of De Soto, London Grimes of De Soto and Ace Grimes of De Soto; 10 great-grandchildren: Braylee Sheets of Hot Springs, Ark., Noah Hinkle of Jollete, Texas, Kennedy Sheets of Hot Springs, Ark., Lyndy Sheets of Hot Springs, Ark., Juniper Conley of De Soto, August Hinkle of Springfield, Phoenix Hinkle of Joplin, Ryan Sheets of Hot Springs, Ark., Apollo Gambill of Santa Fe, Texas, and Coraline Hinkle of Joplin; and eight siblings: Mary (Terry) Lawson of Lynn, Ark., Larry (Connie) Smith of Texarkana, Texas, Rachel (Joe) Capps of Lynn, Ark., Jerry Smith of Farmington, Angela Robinson of Lynn, Ark., Rodney (Lisa) Smith of De Soto, Patricia (Tommy) Reed of Rochelle, Ill., and Tina (Mark) Smith of Rochelle, Ill.

He was preceded in death by a child: Jason Hinkle; and four siblings: Gene Peterson, Thomas Smith, Oliver Lee Smith and Francine Smith

A celebration of life service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Charter Baptist Church of Festus, 15267 Hwy. T., officiated by Brother Chris. Memorials may be made in the form of plants or monetary donations to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Crowder Funeral Home in Webster, Texas.
