Brocksmith, Jerry "Homer"

Jerry “Homer” Brocksmith, 66, of Arnold died May 14, 2026, in Jefferson County. Mr. Brocksmith was a retired union painter and was known for his hard work and the friendships he made. He also was known for his quick wit, unforgettable stories and the ability to make those around him laugh. He loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He loved being with his brother, Joe, his nephew, Joey, and hunting friends at Deer Camp. He enjoyed being outdoors and tending to his tropical plants. He also loved going on beach vacations in Mexico with his wife and making new friends in faraway places. Born Dec. 29, 1959, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Antoinette (Pott) Brocksmith and John E. Brocksmith.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years: Penny (Martin) Brocksmith of Arnold; two stepdaughters: Alison Hennessy of Conroe, Texas, and Tricia Hennessy (Zach) Powell of South Carolina; three grandchildren: Kylie “Bob 1” Elrod of Conroe, Texas, Kyndall “Bob 2” Turberville of South Carolina and Maddie “Bob 3” Elrod of Conroe, Texas; two siblings: Jim (Debby) Brocksmith and John (Linda) Brocksmith; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Joseph A. Brocksmith.

A Mass and celebration of life will be held in August. Arrangements are under the direction of St. Louis Cremation.
