Brinker, James

James R. “Jim” Brinker, 81, of House Springs died April 13, 2025, in Sullivan. Mr. Brinker was passionate about Civil War history, which he brought back to life as a Civil War reenactor. His love of history extended to his work, where he spent time buying and selling at antique malls. Known for his sense of duty and pride, he served in the Marines for two years. He also was known for having a sweet spot for Jolly Ranchers. Born June 22, 1943, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Richard and Louise (Freymeyer) Brinker.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Kathleen (Mund) Brinker; two children: Tim (Lisa) Brinker and Amy (Andy) Edgar; three grandchildren: Aiden Edgar, Adelyn Edgar and Anabelle Edgar; two siblings: Janet Sander and Karen (Bob) Sieber; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law: Vernon Sander.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cedar Hill. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
