Dell, James

James Aziel Dell, 91, of Hillsboro died April 26, 2026. Mr. Dell was a maintenance worker who served for 22 years at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Outside of his work, he enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Born July 5, 1934, in Palatka, Ark., he was the son of the late Aziel Cleveland Dell and Jessie Iola (Lafferty) Dell.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years: Jean (Whitmore) Dell; two daughters: Kathie Bean and Sheryl (Doug) Lee; five grandchildren: James Bagley, Tony (Kayla) Bagley, Sara Walker, Kristy (Ryan Byrn) Lee and Jason (Lauren) Lee; and five great-grandchildren: Damien Bagley, Belle Bean, Darrenger Bagley, Carter Byrn and Elliott Lee.

He was preceded in death by four siblings: John Dell, Tony Dell, Paula Dell and Barbara Arnold; a daughter: Anna Walker; a son-in-law: Charles Bean; and two great-grandchildren: Jesse Bagley and Wyatt Bagley.

Visitation is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until services at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or at act.alz.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
