Henry Justin Risse, 92, of Hillsboro died Dec. 3, 2025, at his home. Mr. Risse was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of the American Legion and a retired baker from Kroger Food Stores. Born Dec. 23, 1932, in St. Louis County, he was the son of the late Christine (Wewer) and Bernard John Risse.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years: Sheila Risse; two daughters: Rose (Brian) Ostendorf of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Sharon Martin of Festus; a sister: Mary (Gerry) Devaney of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren: Jody Martin, Travis Gettinger and Andrea Gettinger; and three great-grandchildren: Brennan Martin, Evan Martin and Noah Skerness.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Carol Lynn Risse; six brothers: BJ Risse, Robert Joseph Risse, Donald Jacob Risse, Norman L. Risse, Thomas Risse and Martin Risse; and a sister: Betty Ann Harding.
Visitation is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until funeral services at noon Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Father Zac Povis. Interment with full military honors to follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
