Boyer, Grace

Grace A. Boyer, 80, of De Soto died April 21, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mrs. Boyer was an active volunteer at the St. Rose of Lima St. Vincent DePaul Conference, the Daughters of Isabella Circle 659 and the Columbian Ann’s. She worked for Union Electric, helped run the family school bus service and finished her career at a local State Farm office. She was honored as De Soto Volunteer of the Year and was inducted into the Hall of Fame at De Soto High School. She was an avid seamstress and taught 4H for many years. She enjoyed crocheting and had a passion for refinishing furniture; she once refurbished an antique upright piano. She loved organizing her family gatherings, Lenten fish fries and De Soto High School reunions. She will be remembered for helping others and bringing people together. Born Sept. 26, 1944, in De Soto, she was the daughter of the late William Conrad and Laura Anna (Dickinson) Seyfarth.

She is survived by her husband: John Boyer of De Soto; two children: Kathryn (Stephen) Boyer-Edwards and Keith (Heather) Boyer; four siblings: Laura Love, Mary (Dan) Byers, Ed (Rita) Seyfarth and Joseph Seyfarth; a sister-in-law: Carole Seyfarth; three grandchildren: Ian (Rachael) Edwards, Mia Boyer-Edwards and Noah Boyer-Edwards; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother: Bill Seyfarth; a sister: Margaret (Larry) Huber; a sister-in-law: Beverly Seyfarth; and a brother-in-law: Larry Love.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main, in De Soto. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Families of Calvary Cemetery Maintenance Fund, St. Rose of Lima in De Soto, or the St. Rose of Lima St. Vincent DePaul Conference in De Soto. Entombment will be in the Calvary Mausoleum in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
