Redfield, Gordon

Gordon Henry Redfield Jr., 97, of De Soto died Aug. 28, 2024. Mr. Redfield built and operated Lucky Strike Lanes at Hwy. 110 and 21 in De Soto, and he owned and managed two Redfield liquor stores in De Soto. He was a member of Amvets Post 48 in De Soto and Knights of Columbus in the Chicago area. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, woodworking, playing games and cards and, most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. Born Jan. 31, 1927, in Potosi, he was the son of the late Helena (Bergman) and Gordon Henry Redfield Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years: Marilyn C. (Boyer) Redfield of De Soto; four sons: Gary Redfield of Crystal City, Greg (Coby) Redfield of Festus, Danny (Connie) Hassell of De Soto and Nick (Stacie) Hassell of Kirkwood; three daughters: Gale (George) Russell of Wisconsin, Gina (the late Don) Bright of Arnold and Cherie Doyen of Columbia; a sister: Joan (the late Bob) Terry of De Soto; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Helen (Harold) Kite and Ginny (Clark) Carylon; and a granddaughter: Alissa.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, in Topeka, Kansas. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
