Gloria Faye Hilse, 85, of Arnold died June 11, 2024. Mrs. Hilse was known for her generosity and her love for the Lord. She was passionate about her family and friends. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling. Born June 26, 1938, in Decatur, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Ervin and Thelma (Long) Terry.
She is survived by her husband: Edward "Ed" Hermann Hilse Jr.; two stepchildren: Lisa Hilse and Pam (Doug) Braswell; two daughters-in-law: Nancy Braswell and Christine Granda; seven grandchildren: Melea (Todd Naasz) Roark, Vanessa (Nick) Seaver, Valena (Coy) Williams, Michael (Matt Tallent) Braswell, Gregory (Christin) Braswell, Shawn Braswell and Amanda (Derrick) Matson; two siblings: Bobby Jean Dudley and Judy (and the late Kyle) Long; 19 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by two children: Terry Wayne Braswell and Jerry Leon Braswell; and six siblings: Lois Lott, Kenneth Terry, Tennis Terry, Prentis Terry, Dalton "Woody" Terry and Loretta Cothren.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Monday, June 17, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. Burial will be in Shepherd Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
