Glenwood “Tater” McFarland, 91, of Arnold died Feb. 17, 2024, at Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cape Girardeau. Mr. McFarland was a veteran and served during the Korean War. He served as treasurer for the Korean War Veterans of America. He retired from General Motors after 30 years. After his retirement, he would dedicate his time to volunteering at Jefferson Barracks. Born March 15, 1932, in Elvins, he was the son of the late Ethel I. (Russel) and James N. McFarland.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Murial J. (Yamnitz) McFarland.
He is survived by three children: Bryan T. (Sherri L.) McFarland, Daren R. (Rhonda G.) McFarland and Kevin L. McFarland; two grandchildren: Bryan S. (Renee N.) McFarland and Stephanie N. McFarland; four great-grandchildren: Jordan, Shay, Colton and Mylah; and two siblings: MaryAnn (Mike) Watson and Gary "Dino" (Linda) McFarland; and many other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by two siblings: Faye (Charlie) Pritchett and Wade (Judy survives) McFarland.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in south St. Louis County. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
