McDermott, Georgia

Georgia Lee McDermott, 94, of Imperial died May 13, 2026. Mrs. McDermott worked for many years as a nurse in the Children’s Nursery at Cardinal Glennon. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Imperial. She enjoyed attending social gatherings, dining out with family and friends, playing “Show Me the Money” at the VFW Hall, her favorite chocolates, playing Farkel and cheering for the St. Louis Cardinals. A social butterfly, she was known for her warm spirit, outgoing personality and love of being around people. Born Dec. 3, 1931, in Bonne Terre, she was the daughter of the late Rose Thompson and Charles Weiman.

She is survived by five children: Tom (Denise) McDermott of Saline, Mich., Mike McDermott of Festus, Tim McDermott of Arnold, Alan McDermott of California and Susan McDermott of Imperial; seven grandchildren: Matt, Adam, Blake, Amber, Adam, A.J. and Ian; five great-grandchildren: Juliet, Hudson, Zoey, Remi and Rowyn; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by eleven siblings: Flora Virginia (Buckner) Stevens, Wayne Stevens, Albert William Weimer, Bert Weiman, Lillie (Weiman) Miller, Carl Ludwig Weiman, Joseph Charles “J.C.” Thompson, Josephine “JoAnn” (Thompson) Matthews, Eugene Matthews, Douglas Ralph Combs and James Elmer Thompson; two infant siblings; and several grandchildren.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1725 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
