George Morgan Portell, 87, of Barnhart died Nov. 12, 2025, at his home. Mr. Portell served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the lake. Born June 30, 1938, in Herculaneum, he was the son of the late Grace (Cook) and George A. Portell.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Mildred “Mickey” (Medley) Portell.
He is survived by two daughters: Lisa L. (Portell) Massa of Barnhart and Amanda R. Portell of De Soto; a son: Robert “Bob” Portell of Hillsboro; and seven grandchildren: Myka, Bella, Dutton, Matthew, Brittany, Jordan and Kylie.
He also was preceded in death by two brothers: Rick (Marilyn survives of Festus) Portell and Gary Portell; and a sister: JoAnn (LeRoy survives of Farmington) Johnston.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
