Pinson, George

George Lee Pinson, 76, of Cadet Died Nov. 25, 2023. Following his career as a heavy equipment operator, Mr. Pinson made many contributions to law enforcement. He began as a volunteer reserve officer for Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the city of De Soto Police Department. This experience and training led him to become a State Park Ranger at Washington State Park and other nearby parks. He then served as a police officer for the city of De Soto for ten years. He also served many Washington County and neighboring counties as a certified gunsmith. He was scoutmaster of troop 454 in Tiff for six years giving many the opportunity to explore and enjoy the outdoors through camping, hiking, boating and fishing. He also was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiff.  Above everything, he loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an enthusiastic traveler and camper and took joy in exploring new places with his children and grandchildren. He was passionate about collecting coins and restoring old tractors. Born June 23, 1947, in Cadet, he was the son to the late Wilma (Province) and Dorsey J. Pinson

He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Regina Marie Pinson; two children: Georgia Ann Pinson and Jeffrey Scott Pinson; and four grandchildren: Kayla, Tyler, Landen and Owen; six brothers: Richard (Mary Jo) Pinson, Glennon "Butch" Pinson, Tim Pinson, Roger (Michelle) Pinson, Randy (Jan) Pinson and Brian Pinson; and four sisters: Wanda Jackson, Linda (Wayne) Nees, Yvonne (Butch) Allen and Pamela (Scott) Masterson.

He also is survived by his wife’s family: Joyce Politte, Joseph G. (Clarice) Daugherty, Catherine Blase, Ed Massie, Bernadette (Bill) Schmidt, Thomas (Barbara) Daugherty and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by a parents-in-law: Joseph G. Daugherty and Catherine (Pratt) Daugherty; three brothers-in-law: Dan Jackson, Rick Blasé and Steve Politte; and a sister-in-law: Margaret (Daugherty) Massie. 

A funeral service was held Dec. 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiff. Burial followed in Pinson Family Cemetery in Cadet. Arrangements were under the direction of Moore Funeral Home.
