Hahn, Gary

Gary Lee Hahn, 76, of Hillsboro died May 22, 2024, in St. Louis. Mr. Hahn served in the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam where he earned a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He worked as a welder and pipe fitter for Ameren at the Rush Island plant before he retired. He was a member of De Soto Elks Lodge 689, Amvets and VFW. He loved hunting, fishing, woodworking and making walking sticks, gardening and, most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. Born Nov. 7, 1947, in Cape Girardeau, he was the son of Ferneita A. (Dulaney) and Willard R. Hahn.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Ruth Ann (Siebe) Hahn of Hillsboro; three daughters: Michelle L. (Shawn) Sauer of Hillsboro, Krista A. (Randy) Green of Imperial and Shannon M. (Joe) Boyer of Festus; two brothers: Harold D. (Wilda Faye) Hahn of Wentzville and James W. (Connie) Hahn of Festus;  two sisters: Gail (the late Roy) Halbert of Cape Girardeau and Anita S. (Joe Grey) Smith of Evansville, Ind.; three grandsons: Nathan A. Sauer of Hillsboro, Carson S. Boyer of Festus and Brody M. Green of Imperial; five granddaughters, Lauren E. Sauer of Hillsboro, Alayna E. Green of Imperial,  Sydney R. Green of Imperial, Lucy C. Boyer of Festus and Ella M. Boyer of Festus; and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by siblings-in-law: Carole Stone and Jerry Stone.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Hillsboro United Methodist Church, 4810 Hwy. B. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children's St. Louis, 4400 Clayton Ave, 63110. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
