Stewart, Freddie

Freddie Wayne Stewart, 74, of Hillsboro died Feb. 14, 2026, at his home. Mr. Stewart retired from ownership of Xyquad Inc., which was voted into Inc. 500 for several years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a Southern Baptist. He formed Phat Freddie's Custom Motorcycles and had the opportunity to travel to many Easy Rider shows with motorcycles that he built, where he met many big bike builders like Indian Larry, Paul Cox and Hank Young. He enjoyed the building and operation of small experimental helicopters (Mid-America Helicopter) and formed many friendships through this hobby, including the late Alan Barklage. Born Dec. 10, 1951, in Mexico, he was the son of the late Ruth (Erwin) and Vernon Stewart.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years: Joan Elaine (Carreiro) Stewart of Hillsboro, whom he met and married while serving in the Marines; two children: Jeffrey C. Stewart of Hillsboro and Nicole C. (Kerby Vulgamott) Stewart of Imperial; a sibling: Jerry (Bonnie Lovelace) Stewart of Wellsville; three grandchildren: Jacob C. (Kaitlyn Casey) Stewart of Festus, Addison Vulgamott of Imperial and Grace Vulgamott of Columbia; a great-grandchild: Josephine M. Stewart of Festus; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister: Faye Y. Froelich; and two nephews: Bill Froelich and Kenny Froelich.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
