Evelyn L. Steinkamp, 89, of De Soto died March 19, 2024, at Hillcrest Care Center in De Soto. Mrs. Steinkamp was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Born July 13, 1934, in Dexter, she was the daughter of the late Myrtle (Smith) and Roy L. Hartle.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 16 years: Otto W. Steinkamp.
She is survived by two children: Lavonne (Bob) Covington of Festus and Larry (Pamela) Steinkamp of Barnhart; six grandchildren: Amber Covington of De Soto, Michael (Jennifer) Freiner of Festus, Benjamin (Ashley) Steinkamp of Barnhart, Laura Steinkamp of St. Louis, Bradley (Amanda) Steinkamp of Arnold and Nathan (fiancee Rhiannon) Steinkamp of Fenton; 12 great-grandchildren: Bennett, Zachary, Grace, Parker, Bayley, Breonna, Logan, Bricelynn, Makenlee, Lucas, Colton and Grayson; four great-great-grandchildren: Elijah, Sophia, Harper and Brennan; two siblings: Hansil (Linda) Hartle of Stoutsville and Terry Hartle of Stoutsville; and many other family members and friends.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Wednesday, March 27, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis. Burial will follow in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis South County Chapel.
