Evelyn Irene Johnston, 90, of Festus died April 5, 2024, at her home. Mrs. Johnston worked for the Windsor School District. She loved to bowl and enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren. Born Sept. 26, 1933, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Irene (Moss) Mc Dow and Robert Byrne.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Arch Johnston.
She is survived by three daughters: Debbie Whitener of Festus, DJ (Kathy) Johnston of Festus and Cindy (Lee) Webb of Festus; eight grandchildren: Aubree (Mike) Birkenmier, William Oster, Mitchell (Amber) Mouser, Mickel (Ryan) Wass, Destin Mouser, Laney (Dylan) Webb, Leah (Zach) Webb and Levi (amber) Webb; and 12 great-grandchildren: Madeline Birkenmier, Avery Birkenmier, Lanny Birkenmier, Max Birkenmier, Jacob Oster, Sophia Oster, Brady Sadler, Knox Mouser, Lance Mouser, Jack Wass, Hadden Wass and Valerie Peters.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter: Linda (Glen survives of Festus) Mouser.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, April 12, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Adam Kaul. Burial will be in Sandy Cemetery in Hillsboro.
