Ervin Ray Haislip, 84, of Bethel, Ohio, formerly of Festus, died Oct. 30, 2024, at his home. Mr. Haislip retired from River Cement after 37 years. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation. He was an avid gardener, spending many hours making his yard beautiful. He had a passion for wildlife and nature. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He liked country music and loved playing his guitar and singing for his wife and family. He also loved spending time with his two dogs, Mitzie and Lizzie. Born March 30, 1940, in Fisk, he was the son of the late Iva May Bryant and John Henry Haislip.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Carol Lee Govero Haislip of Bethel, Ohio; two children: Sandra Lynn Haislip of Fenton and Terrie Lee Chilton-Taylor of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren: Thomas Vogl and Daniel Herath of Fenton, Heather (Shane) Huebner of Bethel, Ohio, Dakota Chilton of Herculaneum, Alexandra (Eric) Barrios of Seattle, Wash., and Nicholas Chilton and Anastasia Chilton of Seattle, Wash.; seven great-grandchildren: Pyper Huebner and Elena Huebner of Amelia, Ohio, Savannah Guerra of St. Louis, Nevaeh Chilton of Bethel, Ohio, and Alvaro Barrios, Nikolas Barrios and Benico Barrios of Seattle, Wash.; and three siblings: Henrietta (late Cecil) Griffin of Poplar Bluff, Carl (late Linda) Haislip of Poplar Bluff and Donna (Eric) Strobel of Hannibal.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Marie (Leo) Brown, Linda (Delbert) Cornett and Debra Moore; and his parents-in-law: Leland and Martha (Akins) Govero.
