Elizabeth M. "Betty" Zanzie, 96, of Arnold died March 11, 2026. Mrs. Zanzie was a member of the St. Mark's United Church of Christ, the Quilters Guild and the Sappington Concord Historical Society. She also was a member of the Kimmswick Historical Society, where she peeled apples for the Apple Butter Festival, and the Arnold VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Born Aug. 13, 1929, in Lincoln, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Michaelis) Baker.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Aloys "Jack" Altnether and Arthur Zanzie.
She is survived by a child: Diane Bangert; six grandchildren: Lisa (Paul) Meyer, Kelli (Czarrok) Fitzpatrick, Nathan (Carla) Altnether, Deanna (Robert) Owens, Jacob (Jen) Bangert and Michelle Bangert: five great-grandchildren: Klaus Meyer, Chloe Fitzpatrick, Madelyn Fitzpatrick, Hannah Zeiss and Zachary Bangert; and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by a child: William Altnether.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. Interment will follow in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Arrangements are under the direction of Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home.
