Eureka Police arrested at 25-year-old St. Clair woman for alleged drug possession. The woman had dropped a bag containing 49 pills at Walmart, 131 Eureka Towne Center Drive, and an employee picked up the bag and called the police, Lt. Brett Grittini said.
Officers were called at about 9:15 p.m. Aug. 30 to the store. An employee met the officers outside the store, and he told the police the woman had dropped the bag while in the clothing section and that she was still inside, the report said.
When the officers went inside, they saw the woman near the self-checkout lanes. She appeared to be looking for something, according to the report.
When the woman saw the officers, she left the store and got into a 2004 Buick Century. The officers stopped the car from leaving the parking lot and asked the woman to get out of the Buick, the report said.
The woman told the officers she was looking for a wallet that she lost in the store. When officers told her about an employee recovering and giving them a bag of pills, she allegedly said the bag belonged to her boyfriend and the pills contained fentanyl, according to the report.
The woman said her boyfriend was not with her at the store, and she was arrested. She was transported to the police station, where she was booked and released pending the application for charges, the report said.
Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the woman through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Grittini said.
