Edwin Franklin "Buddy" Eakins, 81, of Hillsboro died Jan. 8, 2025, at Mercy Hospice South-de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis. A family man, Mr. Eakins was known for his hard work, sense of humor and ability to make people feel special and included. He enjoyed being a “Papa” and attending the games and activities of his grandsons. He also had a passion for classic cars and motorcycles. Born Aug. 12, 1943, she was the son of the late Clarence and Rachel Eakins.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years: Ira Sue (Largent) Eakins.
He is survived by a son: Jim (Donna) Eakins of Barnhart; two grandsons: Austin Eakins and Cody Eakins, both of Barnhart; and many other family members and friends.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters: Joan and May Belle.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the mortuary. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
