Drake Julius Vogl, 27, of Denver, Colo., died April 28, 2025, at his home. During his early years, Mr. Vogl lived in Lima, Peru, Baltimore, Md., and Wildwood. A 2016 graduate of Eureka High School, he was a musician and was active in the jazz band, marching band and theater. His musical talents, especially on bass guitar and French horn, led him to be honored with the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. He earned a degree in film, television and video production from Webster University in 2020 and spent a semester abroad in Vienna, Austria. Recently, he worked as a production technician for NBA, NHL, MLB and college games. He was known for his infectious smile, quick wit and generosity. He will be remembered for his goofy dance moves, empathy and creative and adventurous spirit. Born Oct. 7, 1997, in Merrillville, Ind., he was the son of Candy and Jim Greenlee and J and Tina Vogl.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by five siblings: Nicholas and Trevor Vogl, Sarah and Autumn Greenlee and Jamie Haskins; grandparents: Marsha and Mike Fisher and Billy and Justin Schlumpf; an aunt: Julie (Jim) Borgers; an uncle: Zach (Kristin) Schlumpf; and seven cousins: Logan and Kyle Fluharty, Morgan Borgers, Lucas Schlumpf, Andrew, Logan and Justin Hall; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother: Jill Vogl.
A celebration of life is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at St. John United Church of Christ, 332 Old Sulphur Spring Road, in Manchester. Memorials may be made to EHS Bands, P.O. Box 64, Eureka, 63025.
