Whaley, Dorothy

Dorothy Mae “Dot” Whaley, 72, of De Soto died Jan. 2, 2025, in St. Louis. Mrs. Whaley worked as a case worker for the State of Missouri before she retired. She loved being outside by the lake, camping, watching her grandchildren play sports, watching racing, traveling and, most importantly, spending time with her family. Born March 11, 1952, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Bernard Pashia and Dorothy (Livengood) Pashia.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years: Richard B. Whaley of De Soto; a son: Richard (Shawn) Whaley II of Hillsboro; a daughter: Michelle (Woody) Walker of De Soto; two grandsons: Zach Whaley of Hillsboro and Alex Whaley of Hillsboro; three granddaughters: Marissa Smith of De Soto, Kaley (Tyler Cardwell) Jaimet of De Soto and Lizzie Kinney of De Soto; two great-grandsons: Tucker and Tatum Cardwell of De Soto; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Tom Pashia and Jimmy Pashia; and her sister and brother-in-law: Mary Ellen and David De Rouse.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until services at noon Thursday, Jan. 9, at Mahn Funeral Home De Soto Chapel, 900 N. Main St. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri Chapter, 11433 Olde Cabin Rd., St. Louis, 63141. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
