Dorothy Delorice Scroggins, 92, of Cottleville died Feb. 1, 2026, at her home. Mrs. Scroggins was a homemaker, Sunday School teacher, gospel singer-songwriter and a song leader for her church. Born Sept. 24, 1933, in Doniphan, she was the daughter of the late James Truman Stallings and Irene Mary (Dotson) Stallings.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years: Fred Jackson Scroggins, whom she married on Nov. 1, 1952, in Fentress County, Tenn.
She is survived by six siblings: Jackson Harlon Stallings of Salem, Norman Lee Stallings of St. Louis, Kenneth Edward Stallings of St. James, Janet Lorine Miller of Salem, Glenda Morine Strange of Festus and Joyce Caroline Schulte of Salem; seven children: Lonie Lee (Judy) Scroggins of Troy, Bruce Wayne (Gennie) Scroggins of Herculaneum, Suzette Scroggins of Festus, Brenda Fay Murray of Festus, Theresa “Doreen” Neff of South County, Naomi Ruth (Mark) Glass of Cottleville and Tammy Lou (Chad) Naes of Wildwood; 12 grandchildren: Lonnie Scroggins, Joshua (Tiffannee) Scroggins, Rebekah (Russel) Redd, Timothy Nixon, Nancy Clark, Matthew (Lacy) Scroggins, Sarah Scroggins, Jackson Scroggings, Leopold (Jennifer) Merkle, John Murray, Justine Neff and Luke Neff; 19 great-grandchildren: Tyler Scroggins, Clayton Scroggins, Aleksandra Scroggins, Haley Scroggins, Sophia Scroggins, Lee Redd, Ravyn Ingram, Rachel Redd, Jacob Nixon, Sylvia Clark, Virgina Clark, Nancy Marie Clark, Joyce Clark, Arthur Clark, Xander Scroggins, Liam Scroggins, Troy Scroggins, Elijah Scroggins and Mia Merkle; and five great-great-grandchildren: Hayden Ingram, Waylon Ingram, Noelle Ingram, Russ Redd and Ruth Redd.
She also was preceded in death by three sisters: Thelma Geneva Banker, Elsie Geraldine Holguin and Loyce Carol Sumpter; and a granddaughter: Ashton “Abby” Nicole Neff.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until funeral services at noon Friday, Feb. 6, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Pastor Tim Theissen of Peace Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Hillsboro. Interment will be in Shepherd Hills Cemetery in Barnhart. Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
